Asus 1005HAB Eee PC Review

Posted by admin in August 28th 2010

This article was written based on the purchase of an Asus Eee PC 1005HAB Netbook. This is my very first netbook and I totally love it. It is extremely powerful in my opinion and offers really great features. Netbooks have been around for a while now and have been heavily discussed all over the Internet. Some netbooks come with Linux as their operating, but about 90% either come with Windows XP or Windows Vista as their main operating system. The one bought for this review came with Windows XP and I am actually considering Windows 7 for it as soon as it becomes available.

Things I really like about the Asus Netbook are the weight and the screen/display. My last laptop computer I bought is about 3.5 years old and I am amazed how the display technology has evolved during that time. The Asus netbook display is featuring a solid resolution and content shown on the screen can be seen from across the room. While traveling I used the built-in SD card reader of the Asus to upload my pictures from the camera. I then used Google Picasa to work on my pictures and I was partially blown away how great the pictures looked like on the small screen. The Asus netbook had plenty of horse power to modify the pictures to correct colors, rotation, and more without freezing up or slowing down.

However, the one thing I am not so impressed with is the battery life of this netbook. I do not know if it is Windows XP or the Wi-Fi connection, but it seems like the factory battery is only good for maybe 2-3 hours. The battery power level shown by Windows XP is making big jumps down and that happens really quickly. The netbook has different power settings so that you adjust settings for when working on battery, but even with the most battery-efficient setting the power went out after around 3 hours or so. As a matter of fact, even though the screen brightness dims down when running on battery power, the Asus Netbook still uses a lot of energy that drains the battery. So, my conclusion is that to bypass this problem you will need to consider buying a replacement battery. The 1005HAB is the “Best Buy” version of this popular netbook with some minor downgrades compared to the real 1005HA. You can either take the battery from another Asus 1005HA or replace the existing one with an official replacement battery for longer battery power.

Conclusion: Great netbook with plenty of horse power so to speak. I love the low weight and what I can do with this Asus 1005HAB netbook. I am a little bit disappointed about the battery life though. Would I buy it again if I have the choice? Yes, I would go for this netbook computer again.

Lap Top Computer Disappears Into Pocket

Posted by admin in August 25th 2010

India’s vast population is shaping the use of the latest Bluetooth technology – and in turn is being shaped by it. The next generation laptop computer, which Japan is in the process of developing, is a blue tooth (wireless protocol) laptop that will be the size of little more than a fountain pen. It will fit tidily into your pocket or purse. At first glance it could easily be mistaken for a fountain pen that appears to have a camera attached to the top of it.

This pen-like machine will project the virtual screen and keyboard on any flat surface. You will be able to complete all the usual functions you do now, on your desktop or laptop computer. The day of struggling with heavy computer bags on your shoulder will be long gone. All you will need is a wall to project the virtual screen onto and a flat table top for the virtual keyboard and bingo. You will connect to the Internet and complete all your computer tasks, with little more than a pen size machine.

By the 1980’s PCs (personal computers) were becoming a more common sight, followed closely on its heels with the lap top, which became readily available in 1982. The first laptop computer was a thousand miles away from the first 30 ton electronic computer, constructed in 1943 and known as Colossus. The 1980 version was around the size of a portable sewing machine and ready to change the face of the business world. By 1995, when Windows 95 standardized the operating systems on all computers, a new era was ushered in.

Laptops were originally thought to be only valid for use by a ’small niche market’, such as the military or sales people. How wrong was that? There are more laptops used in businesses today, than desk top computers. A laptop is almost compulsory equipment for all students.

Where can I go to find people who are willing to donate used laptops for a good cause?

Posted by admin in August 21st 2010
I am looking to start a donation drive in my area for local college kids who can’t afford a computer for their upcoming college courses. I need to see if anyone has any ideas on where I should start asking for donations of such items, or better yet how to ask.

Ways to Make Your Laptop Run Faster

Posted by admin in August 7th 2010

If you have ever had problems with the speed of your laptop, you would know how frustrating it can sometimes be especially if you do not know what to do about it or what you have tried to do did not work. There are several things you can do to make a laptop run faster and this article would show you some of them.

The first way to do this is to get a very good anti-virus and anti-spyware and do a scan of your computer to make sure there is no spyware or virus on your computer that you did not know about. The reason why this is important is because spyware and viruses cause harm to your computer and they can also affect the speed of your system. There are many good anti-spyware and anti-virus available on the internet, some of which are free while some require you to pay a one time fee or an annual fee to be able to use them.

You can also make your system work faster by doing a regular maintenance of your computer and some of the things you should do include deleting our temporary internet files and cookies and emptying your recycle bin. You should also try to delete all files, folders, programs and software which are on your computer which you no longer use or which you do not need and the reason why this helps is that it helps to free up space on the hard disk of your laptop which can make your computer work faster. You should try to do theses activities weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on the age of your computer and how much you use your computer.

Aion Leveling Guide – The Best Choice For A Newbie

Posted by admin in August 7th 2010

A nicely made Aion leveling guide can be of great help to anyone. Aion online is the first MMORPG I’ve played, the other online games I played were FPSs. I’ve been on this game since the closed beta, trying out classes on both Elyos and Asmodian. By the time the game was getting ready to launch, I knew what class was for me, but there was still one problem.

Throughout both of the beta versions of Aion, closed and opened one, leveling seemed to be a real problem for me. Since I’ve played like all the classes in the game, you would suspect that leveling shouldn’t be a problem for me. But it is and it kept haunting me. You can imagine that I was sick and tired of the starting areas as I saw them a lot. Asking around for some tips to help me level faster, people didn’t really pay attention to me. Some did say something about a leveling guide but the others quickly added that if there is any Aion leveling guide, it’s probably a scam since Aion just got released. Despite what they said, I still started searching for an Aion leveling guide.

It didn’t me very long to see a few leveling guides. Reading about them I came to realize how wrong those people were. Everyone who made an Aion leveling guide started playing since the beta versions, just like me and got it ready by the time it launched. I also stumbled upon a website that showed me some of the most popular guides out there, so choosing the right leveling guide for me wasn’t very hard. Using it showed me that it can be easy to level up in Aion without having to play for hours each and every day.

Within days my character gained a lot of levels and finally managed to get out of the starting zone. Don’t get me wrong, it is very nicely made but seeing over and over again can really get boring. Anyway, if you are sick of seeing the same scenery everytime you log in, try leveling faster, consider using an Aion leveling guide.

Discover the Uses of The Interactive Education

Posted by admin in August 5th 2010

Interactive Education is a learning concept comprising of the ICT (information and communication technology) based tools pushing the boundaries of learning and teaching to new heights. The time has come for creating an interactive educational environment in order to prepare students with skills required to succeed in the constantly changing global economy. The key components of the ICT enabled interactive education are the computers, whiteboard, visualisers (also known as Document cameras), projectors, interactive response systems and educational content.

Computers are the prime thing that is used in creating an interactive education environment. Nowadays educators are commonly using a projector, in integration with a laptop or desktop computer, to project the information of computer monitor on to a screen or whiteboard.

Whiteboard are replacing the traditional boards. Educator can perform computer functions with finger or pen using the whiteboard. The whiteboard software allows educator to write, draw and annotate on them just like the traditional one. These annotations can be saved in the computer as an electronic file in various formats such as Picture, power point, PDF, HTML and can be used later for teaching purpose or send to absent student as an email attachment. Teacher uses interactive response systems to poll students by asking questions related to the subject topic and assess the students based on these responses.

This helps teachers to clarify the doubts and misconceptions of students about topic. Visualisers or document cameras display any text, 2D or 3D object on the Whiteboard and pull down screens with the help of projector enabling visual learning.

Disadvantages of Online Education

Posted by admin in August 5th 2010

Till now all I have done is talk about the benefits of online education; all that it gives us for less money. All we can acquire by just sitting at the ease of our houses. But as we all know nothing comes without a disadvantage. If something gives you benefits and comfort, it must somewhere have something that is not that beneficial and can be a little bit hurting. Everything has a cost to it. So does online education.

One major drawback in online education is the lack of technical skills required to pursue an online degree. Most people are still not that technologically advanced to cope up with the methods that are used to make online education better. I don’t mean that all students are not technologically equipped; however ever there still are a large number who lag behind. Even many of the lecturers and administration people themselves find difficulty in operating the programs to teach or monitor the students. The tutors, especially, have had acquired their degree through traditional means and are mostly not very well versed with the gadgets.

Secondly, the most important thing required to student online is a computer and internet connection. However people in regional and far flung areas still don’t have access to this commodity. It is quiet expensive for them to purchase a computer. In one place where online education helps students from different areas meet and study together, there on the same time it creates a difficulty where a student cannot consult or discuss a technical problem occurred to him as he may not find anyone from his area.

Online course designers can sometimes wrongly anticipate computer technology advances. This leads to courses being developed for implementation on computers which were expected to become available in the future, but which did not become available; (Alexander, S. (2001) Education and Training E-Learning developments and experiences Vol. 43, Iss. 4/5, pg.240.)

The cost of an online degree is not always very low as thought by students. Some degrees may cost much more than if they were taken traditionally due to the cost of the multimedia accessories and materials involved in the syllabus. These costs may even leave behind the costs of accommodation and travel in local education.

Online education sometimes becomes very difficult to maintain. One of the reasons why a student moves towards online education is lack of time. He finds it difficult to maintain a balance between job and college hours. But even whether studying online you need to devote time in order to get grades and pass courses. At college and school, students have pre arranged time tables. Whereas while studying online you have to set a time table yourself or all your efforts go wasted.

Another major disadvantage I’d count is the lack of interaction. Even though students interact with their tutors through online learning systems, however one still can’t hear questions and discussions of other students at the time of lecture delivery. However nothing is totally free from disadvantages. Online education also has some. It now depends on the student how he manages everything.
